YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

 

The Youth Leadership Program is an interactive program for high school students who will work with community members throughout the year

to develop leadership skills and create and produce the annual Warren L. Steinberg Leadership Institute for Teens at Soka University in July 2008.

 

The Youth Leadership Program will have mandatory monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00pm. A completion

certificate will be given to students along with 35 hours of community service to students who have missed two or fewer meetings. Students

are also required to attend the 2008 summer leadership institute.

 

If you are interested in applying for this Youth Leadership Program, applications are due by August 30th and must be sent to 21163 Newport Coast Dr. #124,

Newport Coast, CA 92657. Each student must submit a $300.00 check to cover the costs of the YLP and the 2008 summer leadership institute.

 

To apply for this program, applicants should be

-Between the ages of 13-18

-Have strong interest in gaining leadership skills

-A positive attitude and commitment to the program

 

All the students will help organize the theme and structure of the week. Each student will select one of the areas to work on during the year.

PROJECTS

-Responsible for organizing the group project for the week

WORKSHOPS

-Responsible for coordinating interesting workshop leaders and themes

SPEAKERS

-Responsible for recruiting inspirational speakers

ACTIVITIES

-Responsible for planning fun activites and ice breakers

MARKETING

-Responsible for distribution and design of promotional materials

SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS

-Responsible for orgnaizing the service learning project for the week
